At 19, he ran away to Spain and got a job in a music bar by night and sold ice-creams and
cold drinks on the beach during the day ……if he got up in time!

Back to the UK where he opened his first Bar/Restaurant (Italian) and then on to Music-
bars and Discos in and around Essex but decided to return to Spain for the quiet life ha!

Aware that thetre was a lack of good music bars Bob decided to open the Café del Mar in
Calpe. Not one to shy away from work Bob then took to the airwaves with Radio Rockola
pirate radio station and as they say…the rest is history.

sound of Bow’s Bells) although insists he’s not a proper
cockney - his Italian/American mother just happened to
go into labour very close to the Dick Wittington hospital
in Bow and his dad was German!
Much of Bob’s early childhood was spent back-stage in
London’s West End theatres where his mother worked
as a seamstress. It was during these years that Bob, at
the tender age of 4, appeared at the London Palladium
with Danny Kaye in Mother Goose.
